DESCRIPTION:
“Registan" - is an authentic Uzbek bakery based in Riga, Latvia, the name of which comes from the main square in Samarkand, the city with a rich history and strong traditions.
The client's wish was to design a front showcase as well as bring life to the roughly made Tandir oven for their new sale spot in Imanta’s market, using very simple materials and avoiding any top brand products.
To stress its authentic character, we designed an 11 meter monolithic volume to showcase different bakery products including 6 types of Uzbek bread. Using similar shades as in the main market area, newly created elements silently dissolved in space rather than scream in contrast giving all the attention to the bread itself.
The only protagonist-element that was highlighted with color is the Tandir oven, covered with tiles with a shimmering effect where surrounding materials magically reflected on its surface.
