DESCRIPTION:

More than anything else water is a source of life and the great symbol of life. All life depends on water, nothing escapes its influence, and nothing lives without it. Water plays a vital role in shaping our built environment, as it has done for centuries... We depend on it, we use it, we live with it and we must respect it! Activating the “Zunda” canal with the floating pavilion, it was significant to emphasize that water could be not only the element of division but also a place of communication and dialogue. Having two architectural schools each on the opposite shores, pavilion could become a symbol of spiritual and physical connection, revealing the sensitive sides of architecture. Taking aluminum tubes of different lengths and hanging them on a steel frame, the pavilion would recall us to the idea of wind chimes, which represent someone who is familiar to us in spirit sharing the same idea. Chimes produce different sounds depending on the strength and gust frequency, where the larger and longer the tubes are, the lower and deeper the sounds. The shorter tubes are placed on the east side, having a 180-degree opening view to the opposite shore, creating visual interest for potential visitors…
